Tebe Tasi (Sea Dance, in Tetun language) is a film by David Palazón performed by dancer Colleen Coy at the pier in Com, Lospalos (Timor-Leste) in November 2011. The music was composed by the leading East Timorese composer Simão Barreto. Tebe Tasi is a visual interpretation of ‘Itinerary for a landscape, a symphonic poem’ performed by the Orquestra Sinfónica de Radiodifusão Portuguesa, conducted by Leonardo Barros and recorded from a radio broadcasting in 1983 for the album ‘Symphonic Works’ by Simão Barreto.
The film was an screened at the Salon d’images as part of David’s Timographie during the 37th Festival de Cinéma de Douarnenez in France in August 2014. In 2015, it was selected to participate at the 9th Edition of the Mostra Internacional de Videodança de São Carlos, São Paulo (Brasil). In February 2016, it was selected for the Shorts Program as part of the Dance Films Association’s Premiere International Dance Film Festival: the 44th Dance on Camera Festival, at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York City.
