ANCESTRY

In January 20017, David was commissioned to design the branding and catalogue for the exhibition ‘The Sculptures of Atauro Island’ at CDU (Charles Darwin University) Art Collection & Art Gallery in Northern Australia. The exhibition took place between March and July 2017. The exhibition features sculptures from the CDU Art Collection, the National Collection of Timor-Leste in Dili, the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, and the private collections of Maria do Céu Lopes da Silva from Dili, Michael Abbott AO QC from Adelaide and John Graham from Melbourne.

The exhibition was put together by curator Joanna Barrkman in collaboration with Timor Aid and the Secretary of State for Arts & Culture in Timor-Leste. In addition, two documentaries produced by David in Atauro island—Wawata Topu – Mermaids of Timor-Leste and Ro’o Putin Hatin—were featured permanently as part of the exhibition. Please click on this link  to listen to curator Joanna Barrkman’s Territory FM podcast.  See below some samples of the exhibition catalogue.
